Hana Kitchens was founded by accomplished and world renowned Pastry Chef Michael Hu. The pattern to culinary success as he sees it naturally starts with the passion for food and the embracing of disciplines of a mentor or mentors. After all, culinarians are craftsmen who learn a discipline that is passed down from person to person and food trends evolve from generation to generation. It is up to a Chef to choose a path as complicated as he/she chooses it to be.

At Hana Kitchens it is our mission to be the resource providing the means and the support and business advice to culinary entrepreneurs and to be a collective that has the tools and equipment to offer both apprentice and professional alike.

Michael has been featured in the books: A Neoclassic view of Plated Desserts and A Modernist View of Plated Desserts by Tish Boyle & Timothy Moriarty.

The Travel Channel’s Bizarre Foods America visited us recently for their NYC Overnight episode, and gave Hana Kitchens their number one spot! Host Andrew Zimmern declared, “These are the people that are going to be the titans of the food industry in the years to come.”

Hana Kitchens was recently featured in Edible Brooklyn as one of a growing number of culinary incubators in Brooklyn!

To describe the atmosphere here at Hana, one of our tenants, Allison Robicelli of Robicelli’s Cupcakes said, “It’s like a support system as much as it is a kitchen.”
