Aloha Bites

Meet Akiko White of Aloha Bites!

Specialty: Bite Size Cupcakes

How would you describe your business/brand?

We share Aloha one bite at a time with our line of miniature cupcakes and preserves.

What sparked the idea for your business?

I have always liked to bake since I was a kid sitting on my grandmother’s counter tossing ingredients into the mixer. As a teen, I made cakes and desserts for my friend's. After having a family, I started created cakes for my own children’s celebrations. Miniature cupcakes seemed to be a fun and less guilty way of enjoying cake. So, Aloha Bites was born!

What do you wish you had known before you started your business?

How hard it would be to source sustainable packaging as well as taking in account the shipping cost for ingredients being shipped to Hawaii.

What are you most proud of about your business?

I’m extremely proud to be surrounded by a great team of people who believe in my vision.

What do you love most about being a food entrepreneur?

I love sharing my creations and making sweet memories for others through my products.

What’s one piece of advice you have for other food entrepreneurs?

Never give up and learn from your previous experiences! It doesn't matter how talented, smart, creative you are, if you aren't tenacious enough to stick to your goal you won't make the dream you have come to reality.

What makes your business unique/special?

Bite size treats allows our customers to indulge a little without the guilt of eating too much of a good thing! Having a variety of flavors also keeps it interesting.

What’s your best seller at the moment?

Our best seller is the lilikoi cupcake- a lilikoi cupcake with cream cheese icing and lilikoi jelly sprinkled with edible flowers.

What made you choose Hana Kitchens?

I was very impressed with the professionalism at Hana Kitchens. The owner Joe has also been a very supportive with the growth of Aloha Bites. And I enjoy the dance that happens in the kitchen with all the other companies when we are all working alongside each other.
